I was born into a racing family and have been involved in this wonderful sport of horse racing all my life.

My father, Brian, who provided me with my basic grounding, was a successful jockey as was my late brother Paul.  With this winning form running in the family, my son Daniel is currently riding in the UK and keeping the flag flying high! My passion for the thoroughbred developed very early and that passion is even stronger today.

Opportunities have given me the chance of developing my knowledge and skills in numerous racing jurisdictions.  I spent eight years with master Trainer David Payne and the principals he instilled in me are still evident in my operation today.

I have trained with success in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Singapore before an opportunity of a lifetime came up to assist top Australian trainer Chris Waller for seven years, who in my opinion is the premier trainer in the world today.

I run my operation in South Africa as a blend of traditional South African methods coupled with the vast knowledge I gained in Australia.

Africa has always been home and I am more determined to train as many winners as possible as my stable goes from strength to strength. I am privileged to have the support of Roslyn and a great team of staff helping me to achieve this goal.

To run a successful operation you need lots of horse sense; common sense and the main criteria is attention to detail
